Parent Education-Keeping Families Together

Families are offered sign language classes to keep parents engaged in their school life and to keep the families intact. Students return to their families during school breaks and on weekends when possible, and parents are often in awe of the skills their children have learned at HDA. The children become contributing members of the household.

The HDA Social Worker strives to keep families together by staying connected to parents or caretakers, especially when children return to their homes during breaks. In some cases, the home environment is not ideal, and help such as food assistance may be necessary.
