Spiritual Development
"Start children on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6
God has blessed each of us with the freedom of choice. But without language, it is impossible to understand intellectually, emotionally or spiritually what that means. By making language acquisition a primary goal for our students, it is not long before a child begins to understand the world and other individuals in their lives more clearly.
Through the hand-signed, heart language of the deaf, the story of Jesus' saving good news can be visually absorbed through bible study skits, role-playing bible characters, signed discussions, etc., similar to hearing children. Just as the Gospel Parables of the mustard seed and leaven instruct, HDA believes in planting spiritual seeds early through signed language. From that small beginning, students can mature intellectually and spiritually and choose Christ as their savior.
God can grow them into tall, strong trees rooted in him that can nurture and feed others within the deaf community. The joyful kingdom results from seemingly small but critical beginnings in language.
